Fajr is the first of the five daily prayers and, for many Muslims in Sharjah, the most spiritually rewarding — and the hardest to catch. Because it is tied to true dawn, the Fajr prayer time in Sharjah shifts a little every single day, moving between roughly 4:00 AM in summer and 5:30 AM in winter.
In this guide you’ll learn exactly how Fajr time is calculated in the UAE, what the typical times look like month by month, how many rakats to pray, and practical steps to never miss it again.
Prayer times change daily, so we don’t list a fixed clock time here — it would be outdated tomorrow. For the exact, up-to-the-minute Fajr time today, see our live timetable:
What Is Fajr Prayer?
Fajr is the dawn prayer, performed before sunrise — the first fard (obligatory) prayer of the Islamic day:
- 2 Sunnah rakats — highly recommended, before the fard
- 2 Fard rakats — obligatory, recited aloud
How Fajr Time Is Calculated in Sharjah
Fajr begins at true dawn (al-fajr al-sadiq). In the UAE, official times are issued by AWQAF, calculated astronomically for Sharjah (25.3463° N, 55.4209° E, UTC+4). Most timetables define dawn as the sun reaching 18° below the horizon (Muslim World League convention).

How to Never Miss Fajr: 7 Practical Steps
- Sleep early with intention. Make the niyyah to wake for Fajr before sleeping.
- Set two alarms, 10 minutes apart. Place your phone across the room.
- Do wudu immediately. Cold water breaks sleep inertia fast.
- Sleep on your right side. The Sunnah sleeping position.
- Avoid heavy late-night meals and screens.
- Ask someone to wake you. A Fajr-buddy system beats any alarm.
- Use a prayer-time app with adhan alerts. Full adhan, not a silent buzz.
