Eid prayer is one of the most joyful gatherings in Islam — and in Sharjah, thousands of worshippers fill the mosques on Eid morning. Whether it is Eid al-Fitr at the end of Ramadan or Eid al-Adha, here is everything you need: prayer times, how the date is announced, where to pray, and what to expect.
Eid Prayer Time in Sharjah (2026)
Eid prayer is held approximately 15–20 minutes after sunrise. The exact time is announced by AWQAF a day or two before Eid, once the moon sighting is confirmed.
| Eid | Date (2026) | Sharjah Prayer Time |
|---|---|---|
| Eid al-Fitr | Friday, March 20, 2026 (expected) | ~6:16 AM |
| Eid al-Adha | Wednesday, May 27, 2026 | 5:45 AM (city); 5:42 AM (eastern region) |
2026 note: Eid al-Fitr 2026 prayers were held inside mosques only — the traditional outdoor prayer grounds were not used. Check announcements before each Eid, as arrangements can change.
How the Eid Date Is Announced
- Moon-sighting committees look for the crescent on the 29th evening of Ramadan or Dhul-Hijjah
- If sighted, Eid is the next day; if not, the month completes 30 days
- AWQAF announces the confirmed date and prayer timings
- Mosques then confirm their individual arrangements
This is why Eid dates are described as “expected” until the official announcement — usually 1–2 days before.
Where to Pray Eid in Sharjah
For Eid al-Adha 2026, Sharjah designated 698 mosques across the emirate. Major options:
- King Faisal Mosque — the largest Eid congregations

- Al Noor Mosque — popular Corniche option
- Your neighbourhood mosque — most local mosques hold Eid prayer
Over 90 mosques delivered the Eid sermon in multiple languages — Urdu, Malayalam, Tamil, English — for non-Arabic speakers.

- The khutbah — the imam delivers the Eid sermon after the prayer
- Greetings — worshippers exchange “Eid Mubarak”
About 30–45 minutes. No adhan or iqamah is called for Eid prayer.
Sunnahs and Etiquette of Eid Morning
- Perform ghusl before heading out
- Wear your best clothes and apply perfume
- Eat something sweet before Eid al-Fitr prayer; delay eating on Eid al-Adha
- Walk to the mosque if possible
- Take one route there, a different route back
