Gate Pass: Do You Need One to Enter?
Yes — Jafza is a secured customs-bonded zone. Access is managed through the Tasreeh e-gate-pass system run with Dubai Trade:
- Visitors: the company you are visiting issues you a day pass — ask your host in advance and carry your Emirates ID or passport.
- Regular access: one-week, one-month, and up to one-year passes are available for contractors, agents, and service providers.
- Documents typically required: photo, a letter/mail from the host company stating the reason for the visit, and supporting documents (driver’s license copy for vehicle entry).
- Fees: passes range from about AED 4 to AED 250 depending on type and duration.
- Employees: sponsored employees use a Company Employment Card (CEC) as their access ID.
Apply through the Dubai Trade Portal / tasreeh.ae, or have your host company arrange the pass before you travel. Do not drive to a gate expecting walk-in visitor entry without one.
