The Dubai Metro runs 55 stations across two lines — the Red Line (35 stations, 67.1 km) and the Green Line (20 stations, 22.5 km) — making it the longest driverless metro network in the world. Operated by Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), the network carried 294.7 million riders in 2025, and it is the backbone of getting around the city without a car.
This is the complete, up-to-date list of every Dubai Metro station in 2026 — station codes, which line each serves, interchanges, termini, park-and-ride lots, and what each stop is actually useful for. Use it as the index for our in-depth station guides below.

Route 2020 Branch: R70–R76 (to Expo 2020)

Why is there no R27, R28, R30 or R75? RTA reserved these numbers for stations that were planned but never built. The gaps in numbering are intentional — not missing stations.
Green Line Stations: The Full List (20)

The Two Interchanges: Union & BurJuman
Only two stations connect the Red and Green Lines — you never need to tap out to transfer between them, just follow the interchange signs inside the paid area:
| Interchange | Codes | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Union | R18 / G20 | Airport ↔ Old Dubai transfers; Union Square bus station (intercity buses to Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah); the world’s largest underground metro station at 25,000 sqm |
| BurJuman | R19 / G26 | Bur Dubai ↔ Downtown transfers; direct mall access; Dubai’s busiest station (17.8M riders in 2025) |
Which interchange should you use? Coming from the airport to Old Dubai (souqs, Creek, Al Fahidi), change at Union — it is one stop closer. Heading to the Green Line’s Bur Dubai stations (Al Ghubaiba, Sharaf DG) from Downtown, BurJuman is the shorter ride. The transfer walk at Union is long (the platforms sit on different levels), so allow a few extra minutes there.
How Dubai Metro Station Codes Work
Every station has a code: R for Red Line, G for Green Line, followed by a number. The numbers run roughly in travel order along each line — R11 at Centrepoint up through the 40s, with the Route 2020 branch numbered in the 70s (R70–R76). Codes appear on platform signs, the RTA app, and train destination boards, so they are the fastest way to confirm you are on the right train.
Fare Zones: What They Mean for Your Trip
Dubai Metro fares are calculated by how many zones you cross. The metro network uses Zones 1, 2, 5 and 6 (the full RTA network has 7 zones, but zones 3, 4 and 7 are bus-only areas). Silver Nol card fares: AED 3 for 1 zone, AED 5 for 2 zones, AED 7.50 for 3 or more zones. Gold Class costs roughly double.
Zone examples: the Route 2020 branch (The Gardens → Expo 2020) is Zone 1; Marina/JLT stations are Zone 2; the airport and Deira stations are Zone 5; Downtown and Bur Dubai are Zone 6. A full cross-city trip — say Expo 2020 to Centrepoint — crosses 3+ zones and costs AED 7.50 on a Silver card. (Full breakdown in our Dubai Metro fares guide.)
Timings & Frequency
| Day | Operating hours |
|---|---|
| Monday – Thursday | 5:00 AM – 12:00 AM |
| Friday | 5:00 AM – 1:00 AM |
| Saturday | 5:00 AM – 12:00 AM |
| Sunday | 8:00 AM – 12:00 AM |
Peak frequency is every 2–4 minutes on the Red Line and 3–5 minutes on the Green Line; off-peak trains run every 5–8 minutes. Note these are system hours — the last train leaves each terminus before closing time, so a station mid-line sees its last train earlier. Ramadan and public-holiday schedules differ; RTA announces changes in advance.
Busiest Dubai Metro Stations (2025, RTA)
| Rank | Station | 2025 riders |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | BurJuman | 17.8 million |
| 2 | Al Rigga | 13.8 million |
| 3 | Union | 13.6 million |
| 4 | Mall of the Emirates | 11.2 million |
| 5 | Sharaf DG | 10.5 million |
The whole network carried 294.7 million riders in 2025. Expect the top stations to be packed at morning and evening rush hours (roughly 7–9 AM and 5–7:30 PM).
Station Names Keep Changing — Here’s Why
Dubai sells station naming rights to sponsors, so names change every few years. Recent examples: Centrepoint was Rashidiya, Sharaf DG was Al Fahidi, DMCC was Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Sobha Realty was Dubai Marina, Life Pharmacy was UAE Exchange (and before that Jebel Ali), and max, Equiti and ONPASSIVE all replaced older names. Train announcements and signs always use the current name — if a taxi driver looks confused, give them the old name too.
Tips for Using Dubai Metro Stations
- Get a Nol card before you ride. The metro is Nol-only — no cash fares. Silver card is the standard choice; top up at machines or via the Nol Pay app. (Balance check guide · recharge guide · card types & prices)
- Always tap in AND out. Forgetting to tap out charges the maximum fare.
- Use the women & children cabin if applicable — it is the pink-marked section; men entering face an AED 100 fine.
- One large + one small suitcase is the luggage allowance per passenger — fine for airport runs.
- Feeder buses are free with metro use within the same zone — check the F-numbered routes at your station.
- Park & ride is free for metro riders at Centrepoint, Life Pharmacy, e& and Jumeirah Golf Estates — park, tap your Nol card, and ride.

Red Line vs Green Line: Which Should You Take?
New to the system? This decision table settles it:
| Your trip | Take | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Airport → anywhere | Red Line | Both DXB terminals (R13, R14) are on the Red Line |
| Souqs, Creek, Old Dubai | Green Line | Gold Souq, Al Ras, Al Ghubaiba — the heritage corridor |
| Malls & Downtown | Red Line | Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta Mall |
| Marina / JLT / Palm | Red Line + tram | DMCC or Sobha Realty → Dubai Tram |
| Expo City Dubai | Red Line (Route 2020) | “Expo 2020”-destination trains from Jabal Ali |
| Healthcare City / Festival City | Green Line | Dubai Healthcare City (G28), Al Jadaf (G29) |
When in doubt, ride to Union or BurJuman — the two interchanges — and switch lines there.
What Every Station Has: Standard Facilities
RTA built the network to a single standard, so you can expect the same facilities at every one of the 55 stations:
- Ticketing: ticket offices, vending machines and Nol top-up kiosks
- Step-free access: lifts, escalators, tactile paving and wide fare gates
- Climate: fully air-conditioned concourses and platforms with platform screen doors
- Information: bilingual (Arabic/English) announcements and real-time displays
- Services: prayer rooms, washrooms, retail kiosks, ATMs and free Wi-Fi
- Safety: CCTV, emergency call points and staffed help desks
Special cases: the airport stations (R13, R14) have indoor terminal walkways; Centrepoint (R11) and Life Pharmacy (R42) have the biggest park-and-ride lots; Union has the largest concourse.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many stations does the Dubai Metro have?
55 stations in total: 35 on the Red Line (67.1 km) and 20 on the Green Line (22.5 km). It is the world’s longest fully driverless metro network.
Which stations connect the Red and Green Lines?
Union (R18/G20) and BurJuman (R19/G26). You transfer inside the paid area without tapping out — just follow the interchange signs.
Which Dubai Metro station is closest to the airport?
Airport Terminal 3 (R13) and Airport Terminal 1 (R14) on the Red Line connect directly into DXB via air-conditioned walkways. Terminal 2 has no metro — take a bus from Stadium or Abu Hail (Green Line).
Which station is best for Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa?
Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall (R25) on the Red Line. An 820-metre air-conditioned Metro Link bridge connects the station to the mall — allow 15–20 minutes to walk it.
How do I get to Expo City Dubai by metro?
Take the Red Line to Jabal Ali (R38) and continue on the Route 2020 branch (R70–R76) to the Expo 2020 (R76) terminus, which serves Expo City Dubai. Check the train’s destination board at Jabal Ali — some trains go to Life Pharmacy instead.
Which Dubai Metro stations have free park and ride?
Centrepoint (2,700 spaces), Life Pharmacy (3,000 spaces), e& (Etisalat) (2,300 spaces) and Jumeirah Golf Estates (400 spaces). Parking is free when you ride the metro.

With a Silver Nol card: AED 3 for 1 zone, AED 5 for 2 zones, AED 7.50 for 3+ zones. Gold Class costs roughly double. You must tap in and out.
Why do Dubai Metro station names keep changing?
RTA sells naming rights to sponsors, so stations are periodically renamed (e.g., Rashidiya → Centrepoint, Jumeirah Lakes Towers → DMCC). Signs and announcements always use the current name.
Is the Dubai Metro connected to the Dubai Tram?
Yes — at two Red Line stations: Sobha Realty (R36) connects to Dubai Marina tram stop and DMCC (R37) connects to Jumeirah Lake Towers tram stop, both via covered footbridges. The same Nol card works on the tram.
What is the busiest Dubai Metro station?
BurJuman — 17.8 million riders in 2025 (RTA figures), followed by Al Rigga (13.8M) and Union (13.6M). The network total was 294.7 million journeys.
Are there really no R27, R28, R30 or R75 stations?
Correct — RTA reserved those numbers for stations that were planned but never built. The gaps are intentional, not missing stations.
Is the Dubai Metro fully driverless?
Yes — the Dubai Metro is one of the world’s longest fully automated driverless metro networks. There are no drivers; trains are controlled from the Rail Operations Control Centre at Rashidiya.
How do I pay for the Dubai Metro?
